Married women were expected to remain in female-dominant roles, while stay-at-home wives were forced to follow a strict set of rules and attire. In this world, underwear was outlawed, and only revealing pants with suits for men and revealing skirts and tanks for women were allowed. Married men were the breadwinners, and married women were forbidden from working, voting, owning property, or having their own money.
