The snow-capped peak of Calpe rock stood sentinel over the Mediterranean, its rugged face unwavering in the face of storms and sunshine alike. They called it the Sleeping Giant, for in repose it resembled a colossal figure, lost in slumber. The people of the nearby villages whispered tales of its ancient power, of the gods who once walked its battlements and the battles it had witnessed. At night, when the moon hung low, the rock awoke, its peak afire with an ethereal glow. The villagers would gather, wide-eyed and awestruck, as the Sleeping Giant stretched forth its granite limbs, shaking off the slumber. For one fleeting moment, it stood tall, master of the sea and sky. Then, with a roar, it collapsed back into its slumber, leaving the villagers to whisper its secrets to the wind.
